Summary
- Imaginarium Theater may lower character requirements in Genshin Impact 5.0, making it more accessible.
- Players might receive bonuses for bringing more characters beyond the minimum threshold.
- Picking extra characters in Imaginarium Theater could impact gameplay strategy based on rumored bonuses.
A change to the Imaginarium Theater in Genshin Impact has been mentioned in Version 5.0 leaks, and it may be just what I needed to finally get into the endgame activity. Imaginarium Theater was added with Version 4.7 as a new activity to be run alongside the Spiral Abyss, offering players a higher degree of challenge in exchange for exclusive rewards. More recently, in Version 4.8, the Imaginarium Theater activity added new character trails in Genshin Impact to its roster of prizes, offering players a new cosmetic option for specific yet underused characters in the game like Diluc and Qiqi.
The Imaginarium Theater consists of a battle mode where players progress by using characters and constantly changing their team comp based on how many usages each character has left. The endgame mode has a seasonal rotation, much like the Spiral Abyss, but here, instead of special modifiers, the rotation dictates which types of characters can be used in it. Currently, for example, only Hydro, Cryo, and Anemo characters can be chosen for the main cast of characters, whereas the alternate cast allows some special guest characters who do not fit the elemental requirements for the rotation period in Genshin Impact.

Imaginarium Theater’s Requirements May Be Lowered In Genshin Impact
Fewer Characters May Be Necessary To Enter The Activity
The main issue with the endgame activity is reaching the minimum character requirements. However, that may change soon. According to information provided by the leaker known as Hakushin, which was then shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit, the minimum character requirement in Imaginarium Theater will be decreased with Version 5.0. Easy mode’s requirements will fall from 10 to eight, while the Normal mode will drop from 14 characters to 12. Lastly, Hard mode will no longer require 18 characters and instead demand 16.
Across all difficulties, Imaginarium Theater’s requirements will decrease by two characters in Genshin Impact.
This may be a fantastic change to the activity, seeing that its initial challenge is simply reaching the required number of characters. Despite the game’s large roster, players currently need 14 characters at level 60 to participate in Normal mode, which can be tough to achieve considering how much grinding is necessary to level up that number of characters. This is even worse if players are invested in giving their characters the optimal builds, which is often staggered when farming the best Artifacts in Genshin Impact. While the decrease is minimal, it does give players some breathing room.
This could very much be what I needed to truly enjoy Imaginarium Theater. Since its release, I have challenged it a few times, but with some distaste for its requirements. I had never had such problems within the Spiral Abyss, for example, and another endgame activity forcing me to level up characters I do not even like to use just felt annoying. Surely, the rewards are worth the effort, but it was demotivating. The decrease in requirements may allow me to use my current leveled-up roster without having to sidetrack and level up characters I do not plan on using.

Imaginarium Theater May Reward Players With More Characters In Genshin Impact
Players Can Gain Buffs For Extra Characters
In addition to the leak provided by Hakushin, another piece of information from the leaker known as HomDGCat arose and was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit. According to the new leak, which reinforces the changes to the minimum character requirement, players may get rewarded if they go beyond the minimum requirement. As seen in the leak, players may start getting bonuses and buffs for every new character they bring into Imaginarium Theater beyond the minimum threshold in Genshin Impact.
HomDGCat mentions that these bonuses include Fantasia Flowers (used to trigger events in the game mode), upgrades to Blessings, and a Max HP, ATK, DEF, and Elemental Mastery buff for all characters. If this is true, this is a very well-executed change to Imaginarium Theater. By lowering the minimum character requirement, players may feel less pressured into leveling up characters and still be able to participate without the feeling of being locked out of the activity.
On the other hand, the game would benefit players who made that extra investment by providing them with significant bonuses in Genshin Impact.
As such, those with a few more characters could have a smoother experience when facing the challenges of the Imaginarium Theater. This goes hand-in-hand with the seasonal rotations, too. During periods where I meet the minimum requirements, I can still play given the rumored decrease in Version 5.0, whereas in seasons that I have a surplus of characters, I get a bonus for that. Hopefully, the leak is true, as it would make my time with Imaginarium Theater a lot more pleasant in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact 5.0 Leaks Say Natlan Is Massively Overhauling Two Key Features
Players may start getting better rewards from certain opponents in Genshin Impact if new Version 5.0 leaks about Natlan are to be believed.
One of the possible downsides, however, was exemplified by users in the comment section of the post showcasing HomDGCat’s leak. Picking too many characters for a run in the endgame mode can be detrimental. This is because, through the many phases of the activities, characters are offered somewhat randomly for selection. With more characters, the higher the odds of you not getting the character you truly wanted. Instead, you may be stuck with a character you do not like but added to the cast to activate some of the rumored bonuses that may come with the rumored Genshin Impact update.
As such, picking extra characters simply for the sake of it may not be worth it. A character that meets the elemental and level requirements for the period may be better left outside of the Imaginarium Theater if they are poorly built since they will probably negatively affect the player’s performance in combat instances. However, this new system could give the Imaginarium Theater a whole new layer of strategic thinking, especially when considering the weight of an extra character versus possible bonuses if the leak is true.

The Version 5.0 livestream, which will present all the new content for Genshin Impact’s Natlan region, is already scheduled. Here’s what to expect.
The leaks should be considered with caution, however, as they may both be incorrect or subject to change. They could even be pushed into a later update. However, the prospect of a lower minimum requirement for Imaginarium Theater does sound promising as it opens up doors not only for me but for several other players who have not yet invested an excruciating amount of time farming and grinding. If the leaks are true, we may see them in Version 5.0 with the release of Natlan in Genshin Impact, expected to occur in late August.
